[NEWS] BeBe & CeCe Winans honored with a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles

BeBe and CeCe Winans are a slice of the successful family music dynasty that treaded both the gospel and R&B charts during the past three decades.

Born Benjamin and Priscilla in Detroit, the two are the seventh and eighth of 10 kids born to Delores “Mom” and the late David “Pop” Winans. With four of their elder brothers already a sensation with their gospel group the Winans, BeBe and CeCe made their debut in 1982 as part of the PTL Singers featured on the Christian television show “The PTL Club.” They even issued an album, “Lord Lift Us Up,” for the show.

Congratulations are in order for Detroit gospel scions BeBe and CeCe Winans who earn a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today.

The honor caps a triumphant return to form for the duo, which reunited in 2009 after 15 years. They played their first Detroit concert together in years

. “We get on stage, we have a great time, it’s like we’ve never parted,” CeCe Winans told MLive about their reunion.

Their star on the Walk comes after more than 20 years in the business, which has produced six albums, 13 Grammys, eight Dove awards, three NAACP Image awards, and more than 15 Stellar awards.

They are the first members of the Winans family to earn a star, and will share space alongside fellow Detroiters Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin and Berry Gordy, among others.
